Brooks Catering NY joined in the festivities for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama with a celebration of the 80th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with special guest Stevie Wonder.
A Dream Fulfilled was the theme of the evening, which celebrated the inauguration of America's first Black president and gave tribute to the vision and dream of Dr. King. The party was held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building, located across the park for the White House in Washington, D.C. on January 19, the eve of the inauguration and the birthday of Dr. King.
Stevie kicked off the program with some profound words about this important moment in the nation's history and the privilege in bearing witness to it. Nearly 500 guests, dressed to party, cheered as they heard Stevie speak of the life and legacy of Dr, King.
After Stevie enjoyed his special Moet and fresh-squeezed pineapple juice, he then sampled a wide variety of hors d'oeuvre prepared by Chef Johns of Brooks Catering NY. Brooks Catering NY provided many of the concepts for this event – the food, the bar, the room design, dramatic lighting, and the musical entertainment.
Stevie then returned to the stage and proceeded to jam the house with one Number 1 song after another. He was joined on stage by daughter Aisha and others from his crew. Guests were on their feet, dancing, jamming, and feeling the spirit and energy of the room and Stevie’s powerful music and words.
Brooks Catering NY provided guests a menu of rock lobster skewers dipped in mango salsa, coconut chicken skewers with a honey mustard sauce, and Asian lettuce wraps served on a crisp wontons. Hennessey-Moet sponsored the refreshments, which included Moet and Belvidere Vodka.
